Mother Arrested After Leaving Her Baby Alone On Porch In 100+ Degree Heat Wearing Only A Dirty Diaper

A Mesa woman is facing child abuse charges after leaving her baby on her porch, wearing nothing but a diaper, in the triple-digit heat. A woman called 911 Sunday just after 7 p.m. after seeing the baby on her neighbor's porch. She said the baby was sweating -- police believe the child had been sitting there for as long as 30 minutes. Firefighters checked the baby's temperature, which was 101 degrees. The baby had a dirty diaper. Officers knocked on the door repeatedly and even called the house, but the baby's mother, Victoria Mitchell, didn't come outside until 20 minutes later. Police say she appeared disoriented.
