2 Teens Charged With Murder In Carjacking Death! (Shot Dude For His Range Rover!) [Detroit]

(Detroit Free Press) July 14, 2012 - Two teenagers have been charged with murder in a carjacking that killed a 23-year-old man who was gunned down while sitting in his Range Rover outside a coney island on the city's east side, Detroit Police announced today. According to a news release from police, the incident happened sometime around 3:30 a.m. Thursday. The victim, John Shaver, was sitting in his 2004 Range Rover on the 14300 block of Harper in the parking lot of the Olympia Coney Island when an unknown armed suspect approached his vehicle and ordered him out, police said. As Shaver got out of the car, police said, a shot was fired, killing him. The suspect escaped in Shaver's vehicle. When police arrived at the scene, they found Shaver suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital, but died from his injuries. According to police, Shaver's vehicle was found later that day inside a garage in the 18000 block of San Juan. A police surveillance team observed two suspects enter the garage, and took them into custody around 12:45 p.m. Thursday.
