Video released by Kelowna RCMP on Friday provides a closer look at police response to an armed robbery. Premier Jewellery & Loans in Kelowna was robbed Tuesday afternoon. Surveillance video provided by the business shows the man pointing a handgun at the owner and employee while forcing the employee to empty jewellery cases. RCMP dashcam video shows police in pursuit of the suspect who is seen leaving the pawn shop as the first police units arrive. As the vehicles approach, he runs down a lane away from police, firing his gun officers at least twice. "It is a call that every police officer dreads," said Const. Steve Holmes, spokesman for the Kelowna RCMP. Holmes says after the suspect fired shots, officers knew they were dealing with a serious situation and not dealing with a BB gun or an air soft gun.The suspect quickly scaled a fence, carjacked a vehicle and forced the driver to take him to West Kelowna where he met up with a getaway vehicle. Police do not have a description of the getaway vehicle.
