Rihanna, Ke$ha, Liza Minnelli, and 50-cent are among the big name artists whose concerts have been canceled in Atlanta in recent weeks. After weathering much of the recession with record-setting revenues, the concert touring industry has suddenly hit a sour note. Not just in Atlanta but all over the country. July 4th's concert in Centennial Olympic Park was "sold out" at least partly because it was free. There wasn't a seat left on the green space. But that has not been the case in other venues across town and across America. Ticket sales for concerts are down more than 200-million dollars by some estimates from this time last year.Big names often charge big money, and cities like Atlanta have no problem attracting them. But even a-list artists like 50-cent have had to cancel dates in the city.
